France in Canada

For his first trip outside the European Union, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal visited Ottawa, Quebec and Montreal, from April 10 to 12, 2024.

As part of his visit to Canada, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal took part, alongside Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in the inauguration ceremony of the Amicitia monument in Beechwood National Military Cemetery in Ottawa.

The Prime Minister of France, Mr. Gabriel Attal, presented the Right Honourable Richard Wagner, P.C., Chief Justice of Canada, with the insignia of Commander of the Legion of Honour.

The Ambassador Michel Miraillet, presented Mr. Nick Kazuska, Canadian veteran of the Second World War, with the insignia of Knight of the Legion of Honor, on Saturday April 6, 2024. The ceremony was held in Regina, SK.

The defence mission took part in the commemoration of the Battle of Moreuil Wood, by laying a wreath of flowers as a symbol of recognition of the Canadian sacrifice on French soil
