Interceptor® A-67

The Original Highway Drainage System

We developed Interceptor® roadway trench drain system in collaboration with numerous state departments of transportation to address the common and long-standing challenges of roadway drainage. Interceptor® A-67 roadway trench drain systems limit the excessive spread and dangerous hydroplaning conditions where standing water, sheet flow, and inlet bypass problems exist. Our Interceptor® polymer concrete roadway trench drain systems include advanced integral frames and grates, which can withstand high-speed highway traffic and snowplow blades. Equally important, common trench obstructions are cleared through the grates with conventional high-pressure wash equipment and trucks.

The performance and technical design of the Interceptor® A-67 highway drainage system has set the standard for Transportation Departments in North America.

Longitudinal Anchor Joint Polylock Inserts Integral Frame and Grate Numeric Labeling Directional Arrow Interlocking Joints Polymer Concrete Slopping Radius Bottom Anchor Lugs

Longitudinal Anchor Joint

The full-length keyway joint mechanically anchors the channel to the surrounding concrete encasement.

Polylock Inserts

Vibration dampening inserts help keep grates secure under load conditions.  PolyDrain channels feature RedDot polyethylene or GreenDot polypropylene inserts.

Integral Frame and Grate

An advanced integral frame and grate withstand high-speed highway traffic and snowplow blades.

Numeric Labeling

PolyDrain channels feature cast numeric labels to make installation easy and simple.

Directional Arrow

PolyDrain channels feature cast directional arrows to indicate the direction of water flow and ensure proper layout and installation.

Interlocking Joints

Interlocking tongue and groove joints aid positive alignment and provide a tighter joint.

Polymer Concrete

All PolyDrain channels are available in two polymer concrete formulations. Both offer superior strength and durability over alternative materials. All PolyDrain Polyester channels are UL classified.

Slopping Radius Bottom

PolyDrain channels have a built-in 0.6% slope and smooth radius bottom.

Anchor Lugs

Lateral anchor lugs secure the frame into the surrounding concrete delivering structural load transfer and maximum service life.

Polymer Concrete Highway Trench Drain System

Independent Anchors

Each 1/2 meter long grate features four lateral anchoring lugs to insure the grates withstand high-speed traffic and snowplow blades.  Integral or bolt-down systems offer no such protection.

Interceptor Trench Drain System for Roadway

IPolymer Concrete Road & Highway Trench Drain System nterceptor is a precast polymer concrete trench drain system for highway and roadway surface drainage. Since 1983, the PolyDrain precast trench drain system has provided superior performance and durability for commercial and industrial surface drainage solutions. Development of the PolyDrain Interceptor series brings the efficiencies of a precast polymer concrete trench drain system to roadway design and construction. Polymer concrete is resistant to salt, oil, most acids, and alkalis. This makes it an excellent material choice for a trench drain system for roadway applications.

Roadway design challenges such as limiting surface water spread and limiting drain inlet bypass can be accomplished by use of a trench drain system. Dangerous hydroplaning can be reduced while reducing roadway construction costs and increasing pavement service life. Continuous inlet line drainage is recognized as an effective solution to water sheet flow problems. The high capacity Interceptor trench drain system is founded on the proven ABT PolyDrain trench drain system and surpasses the limitations of traditional slot drains.

Maximum Inlet Capacity

Based on discussions with Department of Transportation Hydraulics Engineers from several states, the Interceptor A-67 drain channel and drain grate were developed by ABT to provide maximum inlet capacity while maintaining “bicycle safe” openings. Four anchoring lugs help the Interceptor A-67 drain grate withstand high-speed highway traffic and snowplow blades. The Interceptor A-67 trench drain system provides the design flexibility to place the exact amount of open drain area just where it is required for any highway surface drainage conditions.

The Interceptor precast trench drain system for roadway construction is manufactured by ABT Inc., the industry leader in modular drainage systems for commercial and industrial use.
