Specialized Bicycle Components founded in 1974 by Mike Sinyard. His mission statement was: "To give everyone the best ride of their life." In 1981 Specialized introduced the first mass-produced mountain bike in history. It's name, the Stump Jumper. Price, $750.

In 1983, Specialized creates the first professional mountain bike team. Ned Overend, Specialiced most celebrated team rider helps Trek dominate the mountain biking industry throughout the late 80's and early 90's. But it was the Specialized FSR frame with fully active, fully independant suspension that has driven the company for the last decade.

Specialized continues to create innovative technology for the mountain biking industry. Their lines of mountain bikes include -Works, Epic, FSR, ENduro, Demo, BigHit, Rockhopper, Hardrock, and of course the Stumpjumper.
